Credits, colophons and notes
Place the label near the work’s credits. Include the declaration in the colophon, article notes or supplementary information.
Publisher & creator guide
Use the symbol and full category label beside the work or its credits, with a clear route to the fuller declaration. These are draft proposals for discussion.
Connected forms
A circle represents human contributions; a square represents AI contributions. Short joins indicate directed workflows; a slight overlap represents repeated shared development. Colour is optional.
Human-createdA circle on its own: people develop the creative ideas and expression. Several human contributors and routine proofreading or technical processing are compatible with this.
Human-led creationA circle starts the diagonal arrangement: human creative leadership, with generated or reworked expressive material. Connected forms joins the two shapes.
Shared creative developmentThe circle and square represent repeated development of concept and expression. Their slight overlap represents shared development. The relationship does not measure a split.
AI-led, human-shapedA square starts the diagonal arrangement: AI establishes the main concept and material; people substantively shape it.
AI-generatedA square on its own: generated creative content with minimal subsequent human shaping. A human brief may still be involved.

These hypothetical layouts show how a compact mark and fuller declaration can sit together. Use readable text and a quiet background.

The illustrator established the composition and expressive choices, then substantially shaped the generated elements.
Production
AI-rendered elements, selected, redrawn and combined by the illustrator.
Review and approval

Draft 0.1 — for discussion
Place the label near the work’s credits. Include the declaration in the colophon, article notes or supplementary information.
Use a caption, gallery label or catalogue entry. Distinguish the design from physical making where needed.
Use release notes, credits or a linked account. Scripts, voices, music, footage and interface assets may need separate declarations.
A practical publishing checklist
The creator’s declaration describes a particular process. Publishers can make that account visible without presenting it as independently verified.
Record the work, version and scope. Separate text, images, performance and other components where their processes differ.
Use the creative direction and retained expression to choose a category. Routine proofreading and technical processing do not need itemised tool disclosure.
Record sources, creative direction and development, production, and review and approval. Explain uncertain boundaries.
A process category does not establish ownership, source permissions or compliance with publishing policies. Keep those records alongside it as appropriate.
Use the full label in text and link to the declaration. A consistent equivalent is “HAMP Mark: [full category label]”, followed by an optional short statement.
Start at 32 pixels for digital use with a label. At 16 pixels the joins and overlap can be difficult to distinguish. Test smaller uses and physical print proofs at their actual size.
16, 24 and 32 pixels, shown at actual CSS size. This is a draft digital starting point, rather than a validated print minimum.
